Wanderlust Wednesday: Krabi, Thailand

Come get away with us to a magical place with crystal clear waters and white sand beaches!

Can you tell we have an itch to travel? Well, until we can, these Wednesday posts will offer great inspiration!

About: Krabi is the most relaxing part to be in all of Thailand, it is a province that has the most stunning scenery imaginable, beautiful white beaches that stretch on for miles, a jungle and over 200 islands just off the coast. Krabi covers quite a large area so a lot of the attractions require a fair bit of traveling but when everywhere you look is beautiful it is no hardship at all.

When to go: The best time to visit Krabi is between November and April as the weather in the South of Thailand can be unpredictable but with many places now opening all year you will always find something to do.

Eat: Mangosteen’s inside of the Dusit Thani Resort offers breakfast and dinner with stunning views over the Andaman Sea. Their dinners offer an extensive menu of Indian delights and weekly themed nights. One can dine al fresco or in the contemporary dining room.

Malati restaurant is also inside of the Dusit Resort and offers the delights of fresh seafood and authentic Thai cuisine in an elegant open-air beachfront setting. Enjoy panoramic views and glorious sunsets over the Andaman Sea as you savor the true flavor of Thailand.

Sleep: Krabi La Playa Resort is a 4-star hotel with 4 outdoor pools, near Nopparat Thara Beach. This resort is surrounded by two acres of exquisitely designed gardens. The resort has 79 superior and deluxe guestrooms overlooking the Andaman Sea. The bus service from the airport takes less than 30 minutes to reach the Krabi La Playa Resort. Guests can indulge in a traditional Thai massage, swim in the unique swimming pool, or eat at one of their amazing restaurants.

Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort is nestled in tropical flora just steps away from pristine white sands. This resort is 5-stars, set on Klong Muang Beach and surrounded by the exotic landscape of Krabi province, and it is only minutes away from beautiful cliff formations, lush forests, waterfalls and caves.

Play: There are around 200 islands sitting just off the Krabi coastline, some being small rocks that jut out of the sea, some larger but still remain uninhabited and some are actually large islands with many inhabitants living a normal life. You can rent a boat from Krabi town or Ao Nang and explore the islands on your own if you are a keen sailor. You can also rent a boat that comes with a guide so that you can relax while everything is taken care of for you.

Railay beach is one of the most attractive beaches in Thailand. It is only accessible by boat due to the large cliffs on each side cutting it off from the mainland. This beach offers stunning white sand, breath taking views and amazing limestone cliffs. Railay is a cut off location so that means no cars and no roads, just a few long tail boats and a couple of bars to spend your evenings in. If you want to really want to escape from reality this might just be as good as it gets.

Or you could visit and snorkel in the clear water and colorful marine life at Pilleh Lagoon. This place can’t be compared to anything you have seen before. The cliffs offer shelter from the rest of the island, making it such a peaceful spot.

To get to Pilleh lagoon you’ll need to take a boat, riding on the Thai long-tail boats is an experience in itself. It is best to travel here from the main island, Koh Phi Phi Don. But you could also choose a tour from Krabi or Phuket.
